Singapore Botanic Gardens

Singapore Botanic Gardens never disappoints, you're always guaranteed to find a beautiful, lush, green backdrop and if you're willing to take the time you might even find a special little spot that looks nothing like the rest. Good for early morning and late afternoon sessions, but be prepared to share the beauty with many, many others.

Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park is a beautiful circle of magical backdrops. Tall green trees offering beautiful light and boundless shades of green. The history of being Singapore's first official botanic garden and dotted with memories of battles fought are not forgotten in the images. My biggest hint; mosquito repellent is an absolute must in this garden.

Gardens By The Bay

Gardens By The Bay is massive, there are so many options for quiet little spots, my personal favourite is the East Garden, across the river with a beautiful backdrop of MBS, the Gardens domes, and the Singapore Flyer - it's a beauty. Best for an early morning session, before the sun starts beating down.

Sentosa Beach

On a beautiful clear morning the beaches on Sentosa are gorgeous, the palm trees and green tinted, waveless water scream "tropical island paradise". Definitely a sunrise shoot location, before the crowds appear. Sunset is not too shabby either if you don't mind some people.

Green Corridor

There are endless opportunities for beautiful backdrops along the Green Corridor, literally miles of beautiful greenery with minimal people. All times of the day would work under these beautiful shaded trees, but morning sessions would be cooler.

Canterbury Road

If you're looking for wide open spaces then this is the beautiful, green, location for you. It's especially perfect if you don't want a ton of people around. You will feel relaxed, and that will help in creating those natural images.

East Coast Park

A watery backdrop is always beautiful. Ships, beach sand, and tall trees set the scene. ECP gets busy really early in the morning, and stays that way, but there are always little, uncongested spots to take advantage of.

Outdoor Locations

Marina Barrage

There is no view more iconic Singapore than the Marina Bay Sands. The top of the Marina Barrage offers an unobstructed view of this beautiful building, with a bright green lush lawn to run upon. Perfect for really early morning shoots - sunrise is key. Sunset shoots work here too, but can be very busy.

Dover Road

Another perfect spot off of the beaten track. Best to take a taxi to this spot as there isn't an easy place to park a car. But the reward is green grass and interesting tree backdrops. Perfect for sunrise and sunset sessions.

Victoria Theatre Downtown

If you want a backdrop rich with history and iconic landmarks then Victoria Theatre Downdown is the location that will tick all the boxes. A beautiful sunrise session location before the pedestrians start to arrive.

MacRichie Reservoir

A beautiful later afternoon spot is MacRichie Reservoir. It's quiet, green, huge, and beautiful. There is a bit of walking involved to take advantage of the various backdrops, but it is well worth it.

Punggol Beach

Now here is a beach that doesn't look like the other beaches that Singapore has on offer. Black boulders scattered about, and the coast of Johor Bahru across the water, it's a wonderful sunset session location - if you don't mind the drive.

Getting there

If you have kids you will have stuff. Coming by car it means you won't have to cart as much paraphernalia, but if you're coming by taxi, mrt, or bus you'll have a stroller, carseat, and bag of tricks and treats to keep them happy. Traveling light helps when it comes to keeping the flow of the shoot as natural as possible, but if you have the above don't worry it won't affect the final outcome. We will work to keep it out of the shots.

What To Bring

Young kids don't have a very high tolerance level and need entertainment, bring along their favourite toy, their favourite snack, or their favourite book. And in my experience having a bargaining chip has never hurt - a chocolate or a promise of an ice cream after the session will get you some pretty happy kids.

What to wear

This is an easy one, it's hot, always. So be as cool and comfortable as possible. Choose breathable fabrics, natural colours like ivories, pastels, beiges, rust, burnt orange, yellows and mustards, dusty pinks. No bold prints, no black no dark colours. No flip flops. If outdoors, please bring along that mosquito repellent!
